  1. 100 grams sev
  2. 3 tomatoes (medium size - chopped)
  3. 3/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon dhana-jeera powder
  5. pinch of turmeric powder
  6. pinch of asafoetida
  7. 3 pieces of kokum (washed and soaked)
  8. 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar (optional)
  9. 1/2 teaspoon cumin or mustard seeds
  10. 1 cup water
  11. 3 teaspoons oil
  12. salt to taste

  1. On a low flame, heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds. As they crackle, add asafoetida and tomatoes. Stir.
  2. Add dry spices, water, sugar, kokum and salt. Stir well. Cook till the tomatoes are tender. Simmer for a few minutes. Switch off the gas.
  3. Add sev. Cover the pan for 2-3 minutes. Serve hot.
